I only just found out they started doing diwali cards in Clintons the other day!
was gonna spend diwali in india but plans changed...probs just be the usual..spend time with family...going to to the bharat club have a few drinks and then watch fireworks

It's just like Xmas, we don't do anything for any of them anymore, was better when we were kids. Plus we can't go around houses anymore like we used to coz we have a shop now and noone can be bothered or too tired!

usually I dont do anything for it, my mam lights the candles n stuff n sometimes we do fireworks. They all usually go to the gurdwara, Im planning on goin out for it this time tho, depending on when it is.
what day is it on? and date?

October 19th is Atam
So that means 20th is the 9th day
21st is Dassera
22nd is 11th day
23rd is 12th day
24th is 13th day
25th is 14th day
26th is Poonam
so that leaves 27th, 28th, 29th (my b'day yaaaaay! ?>), 30th, 31st, 1st Nov, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th.
Yea so that means Diwali is on the 9th Nov and New Years on the 10th Nov!
(Makes much more sense when I type it out instead of trying to work it out in my head!)
My Uni is having a massive diwali celebration (hindu soc) so we're all gonna go... it shuld b fun... i fink its in Lesta aswell!
My local community does a lot of stuff for diwali. And the have a big banquet in a hall as well. Im defo going to that! Theres also going to be live entertainment and music and all the usual stuff too.

its going to be a normal ordinary day apart from going to the Mandir (temple) to watch the show they usually they hold every year, i want to do some rangoli patterns but i don't know when they will be doing it x *)

its all about the celebration of lights....its not necessary that u go to the mandir and pray...but most religious folk do that....but what me n my fam have been doin is eat sweets and fireworks....

well i dont knw yet.. but thiz white guy in my spanish class asked me wut i was doing.. nd ima like uh.. lighting a candle? (there iznt a very big indian community where i am)... nd he went on nd on bout how there iz gonna be thiz big dance nd dinner thing thtz gonna happen... i felt like he was more indian than i was... i was erm, strange? 8)

ha back in primary school i remember they got all us hindu kids (weren't many of us) to perform a play of parts of ramayan every time diwali rolled around....good times

What is the actual expression use to say happy diwali...(like merry xmas & Eid Mubarak etc)?
I hope u all have fun...do u all like prepare loadsa food stuffs? like how on Eid we start making all sorts of savouries and sweet stuffs...

Me and my matey boy went out 4 Diwali and decided 2 go Southall.. it was DEAD! i think everybody was indoors doin fireworks (and admittedly some ppl had obviously spent A LOT on fireworks cos their displays were sick!). So we thought "balls 2 this" and went in2 London and amazingly enuff London was dead 2! couldn't believe it.. Friday nite and the roads were pretty clear! so ended up goin Haagen Dazs in Leicester Sq :D

yeah i think every1 was doin the whole "celebrate at home" which makes sense i mean i don't go out on Eid so sounds like u guys do the same. gotta luv the whole munch at every1s house u go 2 lol
